This car will not start I own a Kia Ceed Crdi which I purchased from new in 2010. After about 3 years I noticed that on cold start up, the car would produce a white exhaust and idle erratically for about a minute. Has anyone noticed the same problem? The local dealer tried virtually everything but to no avail. Basically they changed everything under the hood. Answered by Honest John. Every diesel from January 2011 has a DPF and most from the years before that also do. Repeated short runs from cold starts, especially in winter, are bad for a DPF. Common problem on the old C4, and usually cleared by switch cleaner sprayed onto switch components. These are roller switches, rather than push switches, so easier to clean. When braking the vacuum assistance seems to last for around 2 seconds, then it runs out of vacuum and the pedal becomes much harder.
